A British Sign Language (BSL) translation of Fasting. A Roman Catholic sign for Fasting. To abstain from food for a period of time. A form of penance, abstaining from food and drink, in order to spend time in personal prayer and meditation to deepen the relationship with God. Biblically, it is almost always used in the phrase ‘prayer and fasting’, which emphasises the purpose of reducing bodily and domestic distractions and concentrating on prayer and Bible Study.
