This year’s theme, the Magi, reminds us of our own journey of discovery, faith, and the wonders that await us in Christ.
The story of Christmas is universal, transcending languages and borders, and in this service is brought to life through British Sign Language.
Our service is led in BSL by Deaf Christians, Helen Cottingham, Tony Hawkins, Fatimo O Olubakin, Mary-Jayne Russell de Clifford, Veronica Stewart-Holmes, and Janice Silo.
The service includes captions and spoken English translation.
Whether you joined us live for the broadcast or are watching on-demand, you are an integral part of our congregation. Just as the star led the Magi, may this service guide your heart towards the wonder of Christ’s birth.

Magi
A British Sign Language (BSL) translation of Magi (singular: Magus). A term traditionally used for the group who went to worship the infant Jesus taking with them gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Magi, also known as Kings or Wise Men or Sages.
The title ‘Magi’ can be traced back to a middle eastern tribe which emerged around 700 BC. They were described as members of a priestly order but they also had political power and could influence those in authority.

Deaf, deafened, hard of hearing, and hearing people from across the UK joined together online on Wednesday 21st December for The Christian BSL Carol Service 2022.
The service was led by Deaf Christians in British Sign Language, with spoken English interpretation and captions.
Folks gathered from 4:20pm for fun and fellowship before the service starts, then celebrated Christmas together from 4:30pm as we learnt more about Mary the mother of Jesus and her Christmas Story.

In 2020 The Christian BSL Carol Service looked at the stories behind the writing of some of the world’s most popular Christmas carols.
As Christmas approaches, we are all busy. There is much to do, much to look forward to, so much to prepare. As part of our celebrations, we remember what Christmas means for us and can mean for everyone. At 4:30pm on Saturday 19th December 2020 we shared time together as we thanked God for His generosity in sending His Son to be among us. We signed and sung carols, learnt a little more about them, and thought about the events surrounding the birth of Jesus.
