It is with deep sadness and a feeling of great loss that we remember the life of Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, who has died.

Throughout the Her Majesty Queen’s long reign, he was her constant companion in both their work and private lives.

His wit and forthrightness were well known but his sense of duty and the respect he earned for his commitment and passion were undeniable.

Alongside the Queen, he has known times of great sadness both within his own family and because of national and international tragedies and disasters.

Now, as we mourn, we offer before God those who were closest to him; those within his family and household. They will feel this loss most deeply.

As the people of this and many nations pause to honour the life of Prince Philip, may we, despite our grief, do so with thankfulness for all he gave to us and the unfailing companionship he gave to Her Majesty Queen.

AMEN
