A British Sign Language (BSL) translation of Heaven. Major usage is for a place (physically above the visible ‘heavens’) and/or a metaphorical state of unimaginable bliss. In Judaism, ‘heaven’ refers to the place where God and heavenly beings dwell – as distinct from ‘sheol’ (the underworld or world of the dead). ‘Heaven and earth’ refers to the whole universe, while ‘heaven(s)’ refers to the sky. In Christianity, ‘heaven’ refers to the place where God and the angels exist and where Christians who have died wait in the period before Jesus returns to earth.
